A Japanese term meaning “vital life force energy,” Reiki is a healing modalilty during which spiritually guided subtle energy is transmitted to clear energetic blockages and balance body, mind, and spirit. Using gentle hand placement, the Reiki practitioner facilitates energy flow wherever needed to promote healing and pain relief on many levels. Deeply relaxing and soothing, Reiki therapy helps the recipient reconnect with her/his essential nature and own healing energy to work with issues such as anxiety, discomfort, weight loss, addictive tendencies, fear, or grief.

What happens during a Reiki session?

At the beginning of the 60 or 90 minute session, the recipient is asked to share any problem or issues, and what is hoped to be achieved from the treatment. Treatment is received while lying on a massage table, or if necessary while sitting in a chair. Many people report a warm or tingling sensation when receiving Reiki. Emotional issues sometimes arise or a spiritual question presents itself. Because Reiki is transmitted with loving compassion, it creates a safe space to express feelings, even strong feelings. Overall, the time should be pleasant, relaxing, and even invigorating.

Benefits include:

Relaxation, pain management, reduced anxiety, reduced depression, improved sleep, improved digestion, enhanced well-being, strong self-esteem, support for substance abuse recovery, accelerated surgical recovery, greater self awareness, heightened intuition, reduced side effects from radiation, chemotherapy and Rx medications.
